LED lights last longer than fluorescent lights. The average life expectancy of an LED light is more than 50,000 hours. In comparison, fluorescent lights have a life expectancy between 10,000–15,000 hours.

LED Lights Are a Directional Light Source

LED lights are placed at a 110-degree pattern. In contrast, fluorescent lights are placed at a 360-degree pattern. Due to this 30% of the light produced by a fluorescent bulb never reaches the intended target.

LED Lights Don’t Consist of Mercury

Around 10 million fluorescent lamps are disposed of in landfills in the State of Washington annually. These lamps hold around 400lbs of toxic mercury waste that ends up in landfills.

Mercury is a toxic substance that can have an adverse impact on the ecosystem. It’s also dangerous to wildlife. LED lights don’t consist of mercury and are thus safer for the environment.
